    New! It’s never too early to introduce basic concepts of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as kids begin exploring their world. Explore a subject through books, activity and stick around for a simple STEM craft at the end!  No program in December.

    Open House:  1-2 p.m. Drop in to browse and ask questions.

    Calling all tinkerers, makers and engineers! Learn how to create and print using a 3D printer. Cool technologies will include 3D scanner,Ozobots and more! Registration required.

    We have the legos - You bring the creativity. Lego creations on display at the Library until the next month.  Drop in. Schedule change: October lego club will be held on Saturday, October 8.

    Adult Coloring Club

    First Wednesday of each month, September through May. 6:30-8 p.m.

    The latest trend in relaxation, adult coloring books! Coloring can have a calming effect on the adult mind and helps promote overall wellness. Coloring sheets, colored pencils and refreshments will be provided. Meetings (through December) will have a drawing for a related item. Join us and enter to win!

    Tech Advice by Appointment

    Book an appointment for an individual lesson or consultation on any of the following tech topics: computer basics, android tablets & phones, Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, OverDrive digital downloads for Nook, Kindle or android devices.

    Consultations are held on Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m., Wednesday evenings, 7-8 p.m. and at other times pending the availability of the Tech Advisor.

    An appointment is required, so call to reserve a time!

    What can you do at the zoo? Have breakfast with the animals, hold the birds, learn about so many exciting creatures and even have a picnic. This pass provides a discount on admission for up to 6 people at the Stone and Franklin Park Zoos. Visit the Kids' Corner for activities and crafts that will get you ready for your visit.

    Open Minds: Yoga and Literacy for ages 3-5 years

    Tuesdays, October 11-November 15, 10-10:45 a.m.

    Six week class for 3-5 year olds

    Classes will incorporate yoga movement and breathing into simple literacy activities. Taught by yoga instructor and children’s book author Ellen Olson-Brown. Registration required.

    Thursdays, October 6 and November 3, at 9:30 a.m.

    For iPad, Tablet & iPhone

    Learn how to borrow content for your iPod, iPad or tablet using OverDrive (the Library's digital downloads service) and Freegal (for music files you can KEEP and up to 3 HOURS PER DAY of streaming music.)

    Meet the Author

    Wednesday, October 12, 6:30-8 p.m.

    Lowell author Stephen O’Connor will discuss his books, all set in Lowell: Smokestack Lightening, a collection of short stories; The Witch at Rivermouth, a love story/mystery; and 
    The Spy in the City of Books, a suspense novel.

    Stephen O’Connor’s books are available for purchase through the Friends of the Library for $10.

    A percentage of the sales will be donated to the Friends.
